A couple of crits ago we were discussing the importance (or not) of theory to art and artists. In this Frieze interview, Sylvère Lotringer has a pretty easy answer: 'What I like about theory is that it spares us disasters. We don’t need to see the worst to understand what it is about.' I still really like the idea of brain gym, and this kind of fits into that. Just before that, Lotringer says that 'Capitalism isn’t just something that is happening outside, it is also polluting people’s minds' - which is kind of great because this is how I described the Daily Mail to someone recently*.
*(Every now and then someone links me a DM story, say this one about Koda, a miniature horse with dwarfism, then next thing I am reading something like 'Difference in the sexes: Women can't understand how men can have sex with women they don't even like', and I worry about my brain.)

If this were Facebook, I would "like" this post.
